The university’s Accommodation Services department arranges for students to be assigned to one of the city’s nine residence halls. The Woolmanhill Flats on St. Andrew Street are by far the largest of the residence halls. Over 700 one-person bedrooms are available in the Woolmanhill flats, which are organised in self-catering flats of up to eight people.

The Woolmanhill Flats development was built in stages by the university in partnership with a private developer in the late 1980s and early 1990s. [56] The Crathie Student Village on Holburn Street is the newest hall of residence, and it houses roughly 100 students**.**

Other residence halls on the Garthdee Campus include the Square Tower and the Round Tower. These striking pink structures were built in the early 1990s and were inspired by traditional Scottish tower houses. They have gained architectural accolades from reviewers and are listed among the 100 best Scottish modern structures in Prospect magazine. The Round and Square Towers were the only buildings in Aberdeen to be listed on the list when it was released in 2005. A variety of different residence halls are used throughout the city, some run by RGU and others by private companies.
