Learn about PTE Core Test Format.
A month back, Pearson Test of English (PTE) announced a new product called PTE core. This test is specifically developed for applicants who want to move to Canada for work or immigration. In terms of mark distribution and duration, the test is quite comparable to the PTE Academic. However, there are a few changes to consider if you want to take the PTE Core exam.
Edify.pk will guide you regarding this test
Previously, candidates took PTE Academic for job and study purposes. PTE Academic was too academic subject centered, hence it did not adequately meet the needs of job applicants. PTE Core now includes general topics, making language assessments easier and more effective for the working class.
The test has 4 sections (Speaking, Writing, Listening & Reading) which assess a candidate’s ability to work & sustain in Canada. Let’s look at the task distribution one by one.
The main difference between PTE Core and PTE Academic in the speaking segment is the “respond to the situation” question type. In PTE Academic, the question type retell a lecture has been replaced by this one.
For the writing aspect, both questions are slightly different and include emails. To write a summary, read the email and write a summary of it, whereas to write an email, write the entire email on the provided situation.
