QS ranks London as the best student city for the sixth year

QS ranks London as the best student city for the sixth year.

Best Student Cities ranking considers the positions, student profile, desirability, employer presence, and cost of living in university cities, and in the 2025 version, the ranking was topped by London as the world’s best student city as it has always been since 2018.

The next ones featured in the list are Tokyo, Seoul, Munich, Melbourne, Sydney, Paris, Zurich, Berlin, and Montreal.

Sydney and Montreal are among the urban areas featured in the Top 10 cities in improvement of ranking per year. Sydney advanced from the 7th city to the 6th, while Montreal debuted in the top 10 by moving from 13th to 10th.

Sydney’s performance within indicators such as Employer Activity and Affordability was on the rise, similar to Montreal’s, where Student Mix, Employer Activity, and Affordability improved.

Some highlights of the study showed Delhi as the top Indian city and Cairo as the best student city in Africa.

As KS mentioned, we are worried about whether this success will be sustainable at QS, especially considering the changes in visa policies within the education framework for international students since January of this year.

These changes have reduced students’ enrolment, thus affecting institutions and learners in general.

At the time of writing, more than 50 universities in the UK have already reported staff cuts in treatments, attributing the difficulties to a drop in international students and the deterioration of the actual terms of domestic tuition fees. Such an unfortunate trend seems unstoppable.

According to Turner, it is essential as it is sufficient for our country, the financial stability, and the future of our higher education institutions: “That is why I believe that our country must remain the preferred destination for international students. ”

Concerning cost, Izmir was declared the most cost-effective place to study.

However, for the top-ranked position bestowed on London out of the 16 premier cities, the city boasts a world-class higher education landscape home to two universities in the world’s top 10, the highest of any town in the world and only outdone by Boston.

London received great results on the scales of university quality—the latest QS World University Rankings table lists eighteen universities in this city.

Seoul claimed the most density in the World University Rankings indicator, with as many as 23 faculties. However, regarding the on-campus diversity in London and quality education, only positive remarks have been made by working or previous students of this establishment.

In the QS Employers filter, London University employers gained, with 11 of the 18 ranked universities experiencing an upgrade in this field, one a standstill, and six a downgrade.

Regarding the share of foreign learners, the capital’s universities have also done splendidly—11 out of 18 entered the list of the TOP 50 best universities, and three more entered the list of the 100 best world universities. However, the results showed that London’s business environment remained pleasing to graduates.

The Employer Activity indicator shot up to fourth in the global ranking from eighth place a year ago, indicating that graduates can readily find good-paying jobs in the city.

“To have achieved the number one spot for six consecutive years proves that London, along with its universities, is continually providing a phenomenal student experience for any traveller from all over the world,” said Diana Beech, CEO of London Higher.

This follows a recent campaign that was recently launched by London Higher, which aimed at as a way of showcasing the cultural diversity and diversity of this city and, hence, the whole of the United Kingdom, as well as establish the truth about some myths that people have about studying in this city.
