The Pakistan Engineering Council (PEC) has expanded its efforts to tackle graduate unemployment by placing more than 1,300 fresh engineering graduates in over 60 companies nationwide. This initiative is part of the Graduate Engineer Trainee (GET) Program, aimed at bridging the gap between academic learning and industry needs.
Around 1,700 candidates were selected through a transparent, merit-based digital balloting system. The placement process is being carried out in phases, ensuring that a wide pool of graduates benefits from the opportunity. The program includes placements in both public and private sector organizations, offering diverse exposure.
The GET program spans six months, combining hands-on work experience with structured learning. Participants spend five months in practical training and one month focusing on technical and soft skill development. Each trainee receives a monthly stipend of Rs. 50,000, along with a completion certificate to support future career growth.
To promote equal opportunities, PEC has reserved around 300 positions for graduates from Balochistan. This approach ensures representation from underserved regions and helps create a more balanced and inclusive workforce.
By directly connecting graduates with employers, PEC is helping reduce the gap between education and employment. The program equips young engineers with practical skills, workplace experience, and professional confidence, contributing to the development of a stronger and more competitive engineering sector in Pakistan.
