Government College University Lahore has introduced its first summer internship program, offering more than 100 on-campus internship opportunities for undergraduate students from across Pakistan.
The new initiative is designed to provide BS students with practical exposure to university operations, research, administration, and institutional governance.
The program also aims to help students develop professional skills while completing their academic training requirements.
According to the university, the summer internship program will offer more than 100 positions at GCU Lahore. Selected students will work in different academic and administrative departments, gaining direct experience in how a public sector university functions.
The program has been introduced as a structured institutional internship framework for undergraduate students. It will allow students to apply classroom knowledge in a professional environment and understand the practical side of higher education management.
The GCU Lahore summer internship program will run for six to eight weeks during July and August. Interns will work five days a week during the program.
Selected students may be placed at either the GCU Main Campus in Lahore or the university’s Kala Shah Kaku Campus, depending on departmental requirements and available positions.

Interns will receive hands-on experience in several important areas of university operations. These include strategic planning, academic research, innovation, financial management, information technology, and quality assurance.
The program is expected to help students improve their communication, teamwork, problem-solving, and workplace management skills. It will also give them practical exposure to administrative and research-based tasks within a higher education institution.
The internship program is open to undergraduate students of GCU Lahore as well as students from all HEC-recognized institutions across Pakistan.
Applicants must have completed the fourth semester of their BS degree with good academic standing. Students who are waiting for their fourth-semester results are also eligible to apply.
GCU Lahore Vice Chancellor Prof. Muhammad Omer Chaudhry said the internship program will help students gain practical experience by involving them in governance, research, and administrative work.
He added that the internship will also help students fulfill the mandatory training requirement under the Higher Education Commission’s Undergraduate Policy 2023.
The launch of the GCU Lahore summer internship program is an important step toward connecting academic learning with real-world experience. By offering students the chance to work within university departments, the program will help them build professional confidence and prepare for future career opportunities.
The initiative is also expected to support undergraduate students in meeting HEC training requirements while gaining useful experience in research, administration, technology, finance, and quality assurance.
